| I agree that it is very sick and twisted and that with modern technology these types of procedures should not be happening. I mean we can fix cataracts with a tiny laser so why in the world would we need an ice pick when we have CAT scans and MRI's. Simrit brought up an interesting point with the movie connection and this type of procedure made me think of Shutter Island where it was thought that they were performing labotomies and twisted experiments on psychiatric patients. Patients with mental disorders should see a psychiatrist and get to the root of their problems rather than taking such drastic and invasive steps. To me it makes little sense that you would risk a person's mental health and personality over a few rebellious acts. And especially in this day and age it would make more sense to use drugs to rather than an ice pick. But such is the human mind, we can be the most civilized creatures on Earth yet employ such barbaric methods to deal with our problems. | |

| I really disagree with what the doctor is doing here because it is just inhumane! This reminds me of the show "House MD" where he makes unethical decisions based on an idea and sometimes he may be wrong, like the doctor mentioned as Josh said. The frontal lobe is front part of the brain; involved in planning, organizing, problem solving, selective attention, personality and a variety of "higher cognitive functions" including behavior and emotions. The doctor goes through the eye and i can imagine that would be painful. And Josh is right, how "bad" does one have to be to get this done? And an ice pick? That just sounds scary Is this even legal in todays society? Does he have permission to do this? Its sucha barbaric method! The answer would be clear to me: NOOOOOOOOOO! | |

| man that s*** is nuts!! i thought they stopped doing lobotomies in the 60s. But think about it this way, it may seem inhumane, but what if someone who was insane, attacked and killed an innocent person? Is the life of an innocent citizen less valuable then the mind of someone who is clearly a lost cause? | |

| Mark brings up a really strong contrast between whats wrong and right. But not all insane peopel are out to kill LOL. That why we have places liek asylums to house these poeple to try and make their lives as happy as they can be without them doing harm to others. People who are mentally challenged are usually identified and instituted before they can hurt or kill other people. I would rather be concerned about these crazy doctors who have been given their degrees by professional schools, but secretly are mad and do stuff like said above. I hope one day these schools would look more closely to their students and if they are at the right state of mind. | |

| haha yeah yeah yeah and well theres nothing really wrong with the surgens they want to know more about the brain i just think there are better ways to go about doing it like different tests that are not harmful to the human body and have a minimal amount of pain thats the best way to go! | |
